Hi, I had to install a replacement Windows XP Home
Version OS after a systems crash. I am using an HP
OfficeJet 600 All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Fax and it now
needs to be reinstalled too, but the system will not read
the software disk. It worked fine with the previous XP
system, this is just a replacement one. The error message
was that the computer had lost communication with the
printer, and that I should uninstall and reinstall it.
Any suggestions?

Did you uninstall the printer before trying to reinstall it?

Success!!

I tried again to install the HP OfficeJet 600 after
restarting the computer with the disk in. It partially
installed but had errors. I went to Hewlett Packard's
Customer Service area and found a download to correct the
errors - apparently this printer wasn't fully compatible
with the newer XP version. So, my disk is of no use with
this operating system, but the download has it working ok
now.
