Disk Space HELP PLEASE

I upgraded to win xp pro from win 98se and had 4gigs
space left
after i upgraded I have 738megs free what gives ive run
scandisk and disk defragmenter and not recovered anything

HELP!!! Unless i can stop stuff from writing to drive c
im screwed and is there anyway to get another hard drive
if need be bigger and get this drive transfered to it
settings and all makeing that drive c and then taking
this out and reformatting it??

In IE go Tools / Internet Options / Temporary Internet files settings,
reduce amount of disk space to use.

Start / All Programs / Accessories / System tools / System Restore /
Click on System restore settings and reduce disk space allocated.

My Computer / right click on C: and do disk cleanup.

Uninstall unwanted programs / system features
