Greetings --

You might see if either of these KB articles shed any light on the
issue:

Error Code 0x80004005” error message when you install Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306081&Product=winxp

Error Code 0x80070002 Error Message Cites License-Checking Issue
After Upgrade on Dell Computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310794&Product=winxp

It also may be that your activation has become "unregistered."
Try this solution, posted by Carey Frisch, MS-MVP:

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and
hit enter again.

Yep, you've been screwed over by the greed of a convicted predatory
monopolist, that is more concerned about protecting their software from
their customers, than protecting their customers from their bug-riddle
software.

How else may MS f*ck you today?

When you first activate windows it sends Microsoft data recognising 10 specific pieces of hardware, if you change four or more of these it can cause a problem, in my experience you have to phone them and explain whats happened, they will then offer you a r
e-activation code.

Hope this is helpful
