sorry for cross-posting...........

We have 4 users (Gerry, Traci, Trina (all limited)) and Lisa (Administrator)
But under Docs and Settings I have:

Gerry.YOUR-B79WZ4ROSE.000,
Gerry,
Traci,
Trina,
Lisa,
Owner,
Administrator.YOUR-B79WZ4ROSE,
Administrator,
All Users

How do I go about checking which ones are right and which I can delete??
I need just one "Gerry"
And I want "Lisa", "Owner", and "Administrator" all to be the one same user

Hi,

Sounds like you reinstalled at some point. The two users with the added
garbage are likely old profiles that can be deleted. You cannot combine Lisa
and Administrator, they need to remain separate.

Is there some way I can delete the accounts safely and restore them if
there's a problem??
System Restore?

Hi Lisa,

No, you have to be sure. Once deleted, the accounts are not recoverable.

Rick,

Thanks for helping me out.

So how can I be sure?

Since there's a "Gerry" and a "Gerry6543625843694" could I log in as Gerry
from the Welcome screen, make a change or 2 in his Favorites, say, and then
go and see which D&S files reflect the change?? Then safely delete the
other one?

The Administrator and Administrator239876437`19864, how could I check those?

The Owner D&S files reflect my up to date files when I log in to the Lisa
user account. I'm thinking I couldn't get rid of the Lisa D&S files, though
or I wouldn't have "Lisa" to log in to from the Welcome screen??

I hope you understand what I'm typing!! Do I sort of have a handle on
this??

Hi Lisa,

An easier way to test if permissions are setup normally: Log in as Gerry.
Click on the user folder under Doc & Settings, you should get "access
denied" when you try to access the one you are not logged in as. Your method
should work as well however.

As you reinstalled at some point, I suspect you will find the ones with the
odd extensions are the "real" ones. The others are leftovers from the
original install. Same thing with the Lisa and Owner folders, as it looks
like you have already deciphered which is which there.
