Kim,

Word is either a Standalone product or part of MS Office. It has never been
part of the Operating System (WinXP). You will need to purchase a copy of
either Office or Word in order to do useful work with your templates.

No. No version of Windows has ever included Microsoft Word, or
any other application software (unless you want to consider
WordPad application software). If your previous computer running
an older version of Windows came with Word, it wasn't that it
came with
Windows, it was that your vendor chose to bundle it as part of
the package he sold you.

If you want Word, you can buy it, either alone, as part of
Microsoft Office, or as part of Microsoft Works Suite.
Alternatively you can buy another word processor such as
WordPerfect, or get StarOffice or OpenOffice.

If you're going to buy a wordprocessor, I heartily recommend WordPerfect
over Word. It will read all your older files and convert them
automatically. WordPerfect is a far superior (and easier to learn)
wordprocessor. It's what MS used when they first designed Word, only
they didn't do as good a job.

Need a Word program that's part of OfficeXP or Office97
which is compatible with XP. Several Spell Check programs
via Google search.
