brightness level

How do I adjust the brightness level for my monitor ? I've checked all through the screens - adjust high/real color, screen resolution, refresh rate, etc etc.

My screen is too light - I miss some of the lighter colored icons.

I'm really glad I sent this in a "new users" group. Both of you were exactly right. I looked all through my computer and never once thought about the buttons on my monitor. Thanks, guys !!! I'd say I feel really dumb, but that goes without saying.
