View Full Version : Microsoft Virtual Machine

I have been working on a Java on line tutorial. At one
point in the tutorial it states I must download the java
Virtual Machine. When I say ok and it attempts to
download the JVM, I am taken to a "I,m sorry" message
from Windows Updates which staets I must download the
most recent Microsoft Virtual machine. However I cannot
locate this download on the Windows Update site and even
read somewhere that they are no longer downloading it. So
I am stuck. How can I either delete the MVM and download
only the JVM? I have an OEM version of Windows XP on a
Hewlitt Packard Pavillion.
Any help you can offer will be appreciated.

Hi Tim,
Due to legal issue with Sun Microsystems (makers of java), Microsoft can =
no longer offer the Java as a download, until something else arrives =
that MS will make.
You can get Sun's version here, works very well;
http://java.sun.com/getjava/
I have stored at my website the latest VM prior to the security update =
that was released very recently. You can get it here, which is the 3809 =
version;
http://home.insightbb.com/~guesswho192/msjavx86.exe
IF, and after you install this, MS has a security fix (the 3810 version) =
for it that you'll be able to download to update this file. Since you =
say you're using a HP, It would be well advised to make a restore point =
before installing the security just in case.
