user accounts

I have created user account for my wife and children. Is
there a way to limit there access to their own software
and folders with out having to set premissions on each
folder or program. We are using a workgroup set-up, but
it is only one machine that I'd like to limit their
access on. I some have some projects for work that I
don't want modified by slippery little fingers.
I use XPpro OS.
