my girlfriend decided to clean things up around here, in
the proccess she placed the product id number i'd taped to
my monitor, in a 'safe place' for me ... now if she could
only remember where that place is! (sigh)
in the meantime... ive recently discovered my pc was
entertaining a worm known as kwbot. I reformatted my hard
drievs... and as i was installing windows xp i noticed the
product id # was not where i left it ... now im back on 98
and am fiending to use my xp.... anybody know how i can
get the product id # for this disk? or is it just junk to
be added to the ever growing pile of AOL disks?

Hi,
As you've reformatted and lost your key (I don't suppose you kept the =
original packaging either?), for a retail version of WinXP you will need =
to contact Microsoft for a replacement at 1-800-426-9400.

Unfortunately, they can't help you with a replacement girlfriend...

As you have formatted the system, there is no way of recovering the Key.
It is not on the CD - what happens is that the setup program checks the
key and says 'this is valid for me'. You had better get on another
hunt for that Safe Place.
