I was having the same issue. I found that HP has a site
to help you. It is

It should tell you which printer driver to use for the
new printer. The port to connect the home printer to is
something like TS001?????. (This needs to be done from
home while connected to work.) I was able to get my
printer to work at home while connected to the office.
However, I did find one problem. Everytime I connect to
the office I have to reinstall the printer. It has
something to do with "built in printer drivers" in XP.
Apparently the printer driver I have to use is not one of
the "built in" types. (Even though I can select it from
the list of possible printer drivers provided by
Microsoft.)
Microsoft does offer some help with a login scrip for non-
interactive printer installation. My next step is to see
about this login scrip to see if it can ask if I'm
remotely connected and if so to load the home printer's
drivers. If it can't and the script is executed it will
give an error message.
Please let me know if you have found any other solutions
to either of these problems.
