View Full Version : Question about XP/CDRW/ and deleting files Please

I have a CDRW that I use for backup. It's formatted correctly in Direct CD
and I've been using it for some time with no issues. Suddenly it contains a
file called "non allocatable space" and it shows full blue on the
properties.
My question is not about this directly. I went to delete an empty folder
from the disk and it threw me a window that says I can't remove the folder
because files on this CDROM drive are read only. It also says I can't copy
or move files over to this CDROM.
I tried getting rid of the folder in windows explorer but it wouldn't delete
there either. Can someone please help me understand what's happening here
and why I can't delete anything from this disk. I tried changing the folder
attribute to "archive" but it wouldn't let me do that either! :-)) How do I
deal with this situation??
Many thanks,
Dudley

The CD probably needs reformatting. Also try dropping the write speed
to maybe 8x. Since I dropped write speed on my computer a number of
CDRW problems have disappeared.
