MS Word as well as other Microsoft Office Products have never been
included with any operating system.
Many computer sellers choose to bundle some of the components with
their computers.
If you need Microsoft Word:

Available at most locations that sell computer software.

Word has never been included in any version of Windows. It is a seperate
retail product.

As the others have said, WinXP doesn't come with Word. However, it has two
on-board text editors, NotePad and WordPad. Shortcuts are usually in Start >
Accessories.

Greetings --
Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.
WinXP does include two rudimentary text editors, NotePad and
WordPad.

You could try OpenOffice (which is freeware by the way). If you have used
Microsoft Office this may not be what you are used to but for free it's
pretty darn good. http://www.openoffice.org/

If you have an OEM system you MIGHT have MS Works which
has a Word-type processor. It is not included in regular
XP home computer. Check the price compare search engines
for Works Suite or MSOffice. Learn what is included in
both packages before buying. Also check with
www.openoffice.org for simple word-type program.
www.nothingbutsoftware.com is another good place to look.
