View Full Version : computer just shuts down

I'm running the most recent XP-home on a 39-mos old Dell
Inspiron laptop. It has taken to just shutting down
(without warning). First happened Feb 3 and happens
intermittently. Shut down 4x already within 2-hours this
morning but went 10-days without that happening. Any
ideas?
I might say it's hardware BUT a friend of mine has been
having the same thing happen since Feb 1 and Dell has
replaced his motherboard 3x but it still happens.
Yesterday another friend told me same thing has been
happening to her with a brand new Dell laptop received
Feb 1, and it started shutting down next day.
Dell does not seem to have an answer/solution. And the 3
of us are now thinking it's perhaps software (maybe an
issue within the latest Windows updates?). I only know
one other person with a Dell laptop and she hasn't had
this happening AND she doesn't update her Windows. Co-
incidence?
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions welcome.

Bad RAM, overheating, bad motherboard...hardware issues, not software
issues. I don't know why Dell can't fix this, but they need to address
your problems.
