I'm not exactly new to Windows but I'm running Windows XP
Pro on my home computer and I have a website which I
create using FrontPage.

I feel that this is a bit basic though and I enjoy using
HTML.
I have the problem, though, that FrontPage seems to be the
only program on my PC that uses FTP, which is the only
method of publishing my server accepts.
I have since been told, however, that there is a piece of
software built into XP that uses FTP so that I don't need
to use FrontPage, but not what it is.

If anyone is aware of the existence and name of such a
program, I would be grateful if you could contact me.

Hello,

You mean an FTP client, right? Internet Explorer can be used as an
FTP-client. Just make sure that the address line starts with ftp://

Windows XP Pro also comes with an FTP Server. But i do not think that this
is what you meant, but if it is, you can add it from Add/Remove Windows
Components. It is part of IIS.

Windows has a built in command line FTP client called surprisingly FTP, but
it's not very easy to use and not well documented. There's are 100's of
free Windows FTP client applications out there, personally I use
www.smartftp.com... it's free for personal use and very powerfull, give it a
go...

Oh, I forgot.... as Kristopher mentions, IE can be used as an FTP client too
but it's pretty crap at the job IMHO... :)
