My new PC does not notify me when new email arrives except when I log in to
windows messenger. When I click on the alert and read the mail in the
hotmail window, it doesn't update the message count in messenger. I've tried
un-installing and re-installing messenger, I've upgraded to 4.7 and still no
luck. I have a feeling it has something to do with how the OEM's install
disk is set up because messenger wasn't enabled when I got it. In Options, I
have Display Alerts when email is received Actually, everything in the
preference tab is checked. I've tried un-checking the email alert and
restarting and then re-checking it but it still isn't functioning properly.
I did install the email addon.

I even tried installing MSN Messenger 6.1 but it is acting the same way (I
figured it used functions from windows messenger to handle these features).

Any Ideas that I can try?

Thanks
Charlie

Disregard the previous message, I see I'm not the only one with this
problem.
