Dear all,

I have the following problem of which I do not know for sure if it has to do
with MS-Word or with the OS MS-Windows XP.
Here goes my story :

I have a corporate installation of the following items on several machines :
-Windows XP Pro (English)
- Office 2000 (English)

Machines are the same types : Dell Latitude D400

We also use Proofing & Spell checking in other languages such as Dutch &
French.

On one of these machines I have a proofing-problem in Office:
Each time a French document is concerned I receive the following error
message.

"Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/etc can't check the spelling in this document."
"Microsoft cannot install the necessary files due to Windows installer error
1606"
"Feature ID not registered"

The machine in question has been setup in identical the same way as so many
others.
Reason why I cannot figure out where to look for the culprit.

Uninstalling Office and re-installing it does not help.

Is there anybody having some ideas please ?

You would probably get better response if you posted this message to
one of the Office groups on this same server. That's where the
Office experts hang out.
