View Full Version : Lost Honeymoon Photos

I tried to create a new, single user profile for me and my
wife. In doing so I deleted the old and requested that
all user files be saved to the desktop of the new. NONE
of the files saved. In short, we lost our honeymoon
pictures, among other things, and she is devastated.
I tried a system restore but it did not restore the
files. Is there anything I can do or are they lost?
Please help. Thanks.

Were they .jpg picture extensions? You can search your entire hard drive
for *.jpg or whatever the picture extension was. Hopefully they are still
there. Good luck.

Thanks. I have tried searching without luck. Upon
deleting a user profile does XP permanently and completely
delete user files. If not, is there a way to restore them?

Sorry. I'm not sure. I would assume that they are deleted if you cannot
find the pictures by searching the entire hard drive. I do know that system
restore will not restore any user data, so that will be of no help. If no
one has a better suggestion, there are some tools that may help recover the
deleted files. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Devastated? You mean she didn't know you were an idiot
before she married you? Shame on her.

First of all, ignore all posts from Prickesliu Crapthora, nuisance of the
newsgroups.
Look here for digital image recovery software:

I've used the PC Inspector software in the link below, freeware.

In addition to searching your hard drive for lost or deleted files, search
the smart media on your camera too. You might be able to find some files
there. I've tried the PC Inspector smart recovery software and it works.
Above all, also do a search for jpg files on your hard drive. They may still
be there, just somewhere else. Anyway good luck. Digital photography is
great except you can lose everything in a flash if you've no backups.
