Should'nt need to type it in matey, XP includes Search Local Drives as an
option for the Look In drop down.

But they aren't local drives, but rather mapped network shares. And, sometimes you don't want to search everywhere, since you may know that certain locations don't have what you need (hence don't want to waste time looking there) or you know that a certai
n location will generate false positive hits, and again, that's a waste of time. Want to be able to run a single query which focuses on a known group of locations, but very well may not be local (but some may).
