I have Windows XP pro and when I try to use the online
windows update, I get the following message:

Thank you for your intrest in Windows Update.

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system
in order to use Windows Update.

It seems that my registry is not publishing the
information correctly. Is there a dll that publishes
this information to the net?

See ""Thank You for Your Interest in Windows Update" Message When You
Connect to the Windows Update Web Site"

Hi, Michael.

I got that message repeatedly until I reconfigured my firewall. In Norton
Internet Security 2004, I had to add the Windows Update sites to my list of
Trusted Sites. If you are using NIS, post back and I'll find the list of
addresses to be added to the list, unless someone else posts them first.
