My (Epsom 880)printer stopped working, installing a new
Espon CX3200 - (with a tech call to Epson) resulted in an
unfinished install because, "RPC server is unavailable".
Epson says there's a MS patch for this, cannot find it.
Likely this was cause of old printer not working as
well... ? Suggestions of a patch location?
(XP, 1 gig, other USB devices ok, in Device Manager, all
ports and USB channels show "functioning normally".
CX3200 now shows in device manager, but printer not found
is answer to a print request, and "Install Printer" comes
up with "cannot complete")

a) Run a System File Checker..... from the command prompt, type

sfc /scannow

(note the space between the c and the /)

b) Ensure the print spooler is started. From the command prompt, type

net start spooler

(and hit enter)

Now ensure that the printer is disconnected from the PC and uninstall and
reinstall...

It may be the case that the old printer was not uninstalled correctly.
