If you have more than one hard drive connected to your system, then one needs to be set as the master and the second as a slave - and only one of these can contain an 'active' partition i.e. one from which the system boots. The only way round this would be
to have different operating systems and set up on your computer as a dual boot system which will then offer you the choice of systems at start up.
