View Full Version : XP home fax send problem

I have a new Dell with XP Home software. I am trying to
use XP's FAX software (note: it is NOT the BVRP Classic
Phone Tools software). I can receive incoming faxes. When
I try to send a fax from the computer, the outgoing call
fails immediately and I get a message saying the number
cannot be dialed. I have the TSID = Fax and the CSID =
Fax. The phone number I enter in the Fax Wizard is the
eleven digits of a US long-distance call (1xxxxxxxxxx)
with no hyphens.
I don't want to spend $99 for fax software, so any
helpful solutions you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks

List the method by which you are sending the fax, the format of the fax
number, and your dialing rules.

Faxing requires analog phone lines. Always has. ADSL is not an analog phone
line.
With some DSL connections you can obtain a DSL line filter suitable for
connecting a standard analog voice line to the DSL line and can then connect
an analog fax modem to that line.
