Greetings --

Sure. The first step is buying a scanner that supports legal size
documents. Not all do.

If I understand correctly, you'll also need a program that will convert your
scanned document to an OCR so you can manipulate it in word.. I believe that
Word 2003 can do it.

You need a scanner that will scan 81/2 x 14. Flat bed scanner works best. I
use Microtec X6EL. It's about 5 years old. The software that comes with it
is the best I've seen.

Then, you need to convert the scanned image into Text. This is called an OCR
(Optical Character Recognition) Program. As stated in previous posts, Office
XP (2003) and 2003 have OCR capabilities. If you do not have those versions
of office, check out an OCR program called Text Bridge. It will scan and
convert your image to text into Word or Excel.
