View Full Version : I am "OPENLY ADVOCATING" for Bruce to be removed as a MVP!

Or at the very least remove him from Windows - Shell/User, and create a new
MVP category for Bruce and his ilk "Windows - FUD/Propaganda/Outright Lies!"
And all you rational MVPs out there that value that the truth to be told in
these groups should be horrified that an Outright Liar is one of your
number. By not publicly rebuking him, you only condone his lies here in
this group, and only encourage and embolden Bruce and his ilk to further
such reprehensible acts. Bruce's lying reflects on you all, as long as he
is one you.
I know that there are many of you MVPs of good conscience out there, it's
time for you to speak up, and reclaim some of the honor that Bruce and his
kind have lost ya'll.

If you believed what you just posted was truly correct, you would take
this to the correct forum.
However since you know the correct forum and still choose to bring it
here, it is apparent all you really want to do is sling mud.
Good by kurttrail.

Is he actually an MVP? I've haven't seen any indication that he is.
If I were a business I certainly wouldn't want anybody that was
representing me to be making the kind of statements that he has made.
And, certainly, if he's going to discuss these issues I would demand
that he leave the anger and hostility out of the discussion and simply
discuss the facts.
Slander has no place in business.
Or, maybe, is he making his statements at Microsoft's direction? I'd be
interested in knowing. In any event, if he is an MVP, then his
statements ARE attributable to Microsoft unless Microsoft does something
to stop them.
Frankly, regardless of what you think of kurttrail, I agree that Bruce
Chambers owes kurttrail an apology.

From Oct 20, 2001 - Dec 17, 2003, this was Bruce BS:
"As it has always been with all Microsoft operating systems, it's
necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and copyright laws, if
not technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on
which it is installed." - http://tinyurl.com/hhjj
only changed to this Dec 19, 2003:
"As it has always been with all Microsoft operating systems,
it's necessary to be in compliance with both the EULA, if not
technically, to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on which
it is installed." - http://snipurl.com/4x5d
When I started with this Dec 30, 2002
http://snipurl.com/4zsp
And ended it with this Dec 15, 2003:
http://snipurl.com/4x5f
It took Bruce nearly a full year to change his tune after his fallacy was
exposed, and only did so after total public humiliation forced him to.
This would be the kind of person YOU would want to represent your company?
Good Luck!

They were paid. What amazes me that people don't protest about paying for
the same copyrighted material more than once! If you had to buy the same
music CD for every different CD player you own, I bet we'd hear a lot more
protesting.

It has also a society that cherishes fair use too. We wouldn't have Free
Public Libraries if that wasn't the case. It's mostly the corporate
copyright owners propaganda outlets that promote the belief that the general
public is concerned with their IP rights.
Like the TV news organizations would present a fair and balanced view of
copyright when they're owned by the largest Corporate Copyright Owners the
world has ever seen!

Really? Since most of the computers out there in the western world came
with the OS already installed, are you suggesting that the Major OEMs are
engaged in software piracy? Hmm?
>
> how many people do you know as individuals and not comapnies that

See, most of the people I know bought their computers from Compaq/HP, Sony,
Dell, or Gateway. They use the OS that's pre-installed for them. And since
most average ccomputer users buy their computers from the major OEMs, and
are too frightened and dumb to upgrade to a different OS, I would believe
that your causal copying confessional to be the aberration, not the norm.
Where software piracy of MS's OS is rampant, in Asia, the real pirates beat
MS to market! And yet for all the real piracy going on, MS still was able
to amass it's $52 billion cash horde. How does that happen? Do you want to
know how? Because the cost of real piracy is passed down to the paying
consumer on every copy of MS's OS that is sold.
PA doesn't stop real piracy, it just tries to squeeze more money out of
those who already have paid, by tricking them into buying more copies than
they legally need to buy.
the

Sure it is! The real pirates don't even have to bother with PA.

How? "When you activate Windows, you are not required to send any personal
information to Microsoft. Activation is completely anonymous." -
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/basics/activation/apolicy.asp
It's designed to FUD people into believe MS's One Computer nonsense, instead
of proving it by legal means.

Have you ever had to talk to a PA phone rep to activate? If so, did they

Well, that's total BS! There are only to Product ID's that have been
disabled from future updates with the introduction of SP1, and they are both
Volume License ProdIDs.
> reps in activations are told to ask

Well then they did ask you for personal info, that you are not required to
give in order to activate Windows XP.
"The only information required to activate is an installation ID (and, for
Office XP and Office XP family products such as Visio 2002, the name of the
country in which the product is being installed)." -

For their corporate customers, who also aren't burdened with PA. But the
individual consumer, MS doesn't give 2 sh*ts about. They are more worried
about protecting their OS from their paying customers, than protecting those
customers from MS's bug-riddled code.

Never anonymous Bud: "Prozac doesn't help just plain a**holes."
kurttrail: "And you would know that from your own personal experience,
right? And while am at it, why do you think that everyone you reply to is
"still snuggled in a 'spider hole'?" Projecting on others what you yourself
are feeling emotionally?"
It's too bad that MS is so anal, to actually censor someone calling me an
a-hole, as I readily admit that I am an a-hole. MS leaves Bruce's lies
about my words on it's server, yet censors "N-a Bud" for calling me a
truthful name. ROFL!

You have stated Bruce is "an Outright Liar".
Now it is upon you to prove that statement.
No one else has to defend it.
Look up "liar" in a dictionary.
While you are at it also look up "libel" & "slander".
Remember it is not enough to prove his statements false, you also need
to prove he knew.
Microsoft does NOT monitor these groups as you well know.
Some employees do stop at times on their own time.
As for the proper forum, you have trolled these groups far to long to
be so ignorant as to not know.

The more telling word to look up in the dictionary would be the word "lie."

It is obvious the rule of law only applies as so far as it suits your
purposes.
When it works against, you cower away from the proper forum to where
you simply sling mud.
The link I gave was appropriate for concerns about MVPs as you well
know.
Your unwillingness to take your problem there shows your denial of
truth.
"Who is gonna read that..."
No one, you will not send there, because you are unwilling to pursue
this in the correct place, there is no mud there for you there.
I did not suggest you defend yourself.
I asked that you defend (prove) your statement.
You can not otherwise you would take this to the appropriate forum.
Now, you can take yourself and your alias's out of here and do a
service to everyone.
But I somehow doubt you will take that high ground, you like it under
your rock.
Respond back only to prove you must have the last word.

Is someone forcing you to read every post in every thread? Surely you the
kind of guy that takes responsiblity for you your actions, right? You have
the ability to read the subjects of posts, and who wrote them, before you
open and read any post, don't you? Then why are you bitichin' about
something only you have total control over, what you want and don't want to
read.
You're using Outlook Express, so just ask Bruce to help you set up a

want to read.

LOL! You just can't help yourself from telling people what they "well

Actually, I did leave the option open in my reply to you. You just have to
be bright enough to actually read what other people write to you. "Who is
gonna read that if I even decide to go that route too?"

Of course you had to use a partial sentence as a quote, because the other
half of the sentence implied that I had yet to make a final decision. But
I'm sure if you're not too chickensh*t to keep digging yourself a bigger
hole and directly reply to this, that you tell me some BS that I "well

I'm convinced, although I still don't think it will amount to much, and
while I'm at it, I'm gonna report you for changing my words in your first

It was substantiated in two prior threads.
So answer me this, does MS condone the lies of the people that they

Both the links you included point to similar posts by Bruce.
I can only assume you taking issue with Bruce's use of the phrase
"...a web site that openly advocates lying and software piracy..."
Your site clearly provides advice on how to breach the End User License
Agreement that the end user has already agreed to abide by as part of the
conditions required to be satisfied to exercise the single license they had
purchased.
The deliberate breach of a license agreement for software and in particular
the multiple installations of unlicensed copies of Windows is software
piracy.
As regards removing this thread, bare in mind Kurt that this is a peer to
peer support newsgroups for general question on the Windows XP product. Not
a general discussion group/chat forum.
My work here is to answer genuine users questions about our technologies and
products., Not to engage in some "debate" with you.
If you have a genuine technical question then post it.
If you have specific legal questions then as I have suggested a number of

Legal and Corporate Affairs department at our head office in Redmond WA.

"The simple fact of the matter is that I was guilty of sloppy
terminology. Software piracy, in the generally accepted legal sense
of the term, refers to someone's mass-producing and selling of
unauthorized copies of a computer program. Kurttrail has not, to my
knowledge, actually advocated particular this illegal activity." - Bruce
Chambers
Yes, Bruce did later recant the latter part of his statement, yet still
clings to the rationalization that he really meant copyright infringement.
"What Kurttrail is actually advocating is copyright infringement." - Bruce
Chambers
And he also hasn't back down from about the "*OPENLY* advocates lying" bit,
though he does have a rather convoluted explaination that proves there is no
*OPEN* advocacy of lying.
As for your unfounded supposition, that breach of license is "software
piracy." Please provide us all the evidence of that, with either a law or
legal precedent. I already am aware of the propaganda, but I am unwilling
to believe you without the LAW to back it up.

But what happens here is a very relevant discussion, as is the behavior here
of MS's MVPs. Should I have gone to the "newusers" group, to discuss what
happened here? It's not like there is a MVP-abuse NG, is there?
> My work here is to answer genuine users questions about our

Then don't, as I have repeatedly tried to explain to you. You only show
with each encounter how unreasonable you really are when it comes to me.

LOL! I'll bite. How do I disable your company's copy-protection is order
to legally "fairly use" my copy of MS's copyrighted material.
"Nothing in this section shall affect rights, remedies, limitations, or
defenses to copyright infringement, including fair use, under this title." -

I already know my rights under the laws of the United States of America, and
need to consult anybody, especially an obviously-biased corporation.
I suppose you would advise IBM to go to Microsoft's lapdogs, SCO, for legal
questions about the UNIX license? ROFL! Like IBM with SCO, I'll wait for
Microsoft to legally prove it's unsubstatiated licensing claims by the
preponderance of the evidence in a real court of law, before I accept those
claims as legal fact.
Thanks for playing, but you are really out of my league. You should just go
back to what you've been doing the last few months and just leave me be.
Don't you have any self-respect at all?

I've been trying to tell people that for a long time now. Some people just
have no self-control. It's comes from having no true opinions of one's own,
and being jealous of those that do, and aren't afraid to openly discuss
them.

March 11th 04, 02:44 AM
To whom it may concern:
Bruce Chambers, MS-MVP Windows: Shell/User, had the absolute audacity to
twice write that my web page, http://microscum.com/mmpafaq/, "openly
advocates lying and software *piracy*," in reply to another poster giving
the hyperlink to it, and my web site does no such thing.
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=104h2tf88n8lqbb%40corp.supernews.com
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=104h2s3c9kn3i7d%40corp.supernews.com
Bruce later recanted on the "software piracy" part, but in so doing, he then
accused me of advocating copyright infringement, when my whole web page is
devoted to showing that it is not, in fact, a copyright infringement to
install software on more than one computer.
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=104ld06q98suk5f%40corp.supernews.com
As for "*openly* *advocates* *lying*," you can plainly see that he goes to
great lengths to rationalize it, but by doing so, he shows how apparent it
is that I never "*OPENLY*" advocated lying on my web page.
Now I've been advised by another MS-MVP, Jupiter Jones aka Mat Kimball, to
bring my complaint against Bruce to Microsoft directly. Quite frankly I
consider it a big waste of time, but on the off-chance that their are some
reasonable people working at Microsoft, I bring my petition for the removal
of Bruce Chambers as a MS-MVP to your attention.
Now about Jupiter Jones, this MS-MVP actually had the audacity to change my
signature, in a reply to one of my posts.

Is behaving like a Troll what MS expects of it's MVP's? Are Bruce's &
Jupiter's underhanded behavior the kind behavior that MS condones in it's
MVP's? Does MS not care about how they are represented by their MVP's in
Microsoft's public newsgroups? It would seem to me that at least one
Microsoft employee doesn't care, and seems to clearly abuse his position as
a Microsoft employee by suggesting that he could pull my posts at his own
discretion. His name is Mike Brannigan.
"I have given up nothing, and may well still remove this entire thread as
being outside of the focus of this newsgroup; which I am perfectly entitled
to do. This thread also contains unsubstantiated accusation directed at
someone personally - which again is a perfectly valid reason for this entire
thread to be removed from this group."
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=%23hiALktBEHA.3360%40TK2MSFTNGP11.phx. gbl
Mike threatens to use his position at Microsoft to censor me for being
off-topic and for the way I attempted to dispel Bruce's fallacious claims to
the rest of the group, and yet in his next post, Mike boldly tries to defend
the fallacy, that even Bruce himself backed down from, that my web page
"*OPENLY* advocates . . . . software piracy.
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=eHHO87uBEHA.3852%40TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gb l
Does anyone at Microsoft really care how your employees & MVPs conduct
themselves on Microsoft's behalf in Microsoft's Public Newsgroups, or is
this just the big waste of time I earlier talked about? My guess would be
the later, but I'm still holding a glimmer of hope that there may actually
be some people of good conscience that still work for Microsoft.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

It's not the truth. You can find no quote on my web site that "*openly*
advocates lying and software piracy."
If you can find quotes on my web page to the effect of "Go ahead and lie to
MS" and "Make copies of Windows XP and give them to your friends," then I

Doesn't matter, since it will still be viewed on the servers it's
propogated out to. You post to your *isp's* newserver, not
microsoft.com's directly.
You still seem to be an exceedingly strange person. I wonder about
you.

You're a very strange person; you should get out of the house more, I

I don't know about the others, but I reply to you because I realize
you're a very sad, lonely person; I try to give a lift to your day by
responding to you, so you'll have something to look at. Hopefully
this gives you that little *zing* of recognition you obviously so
desperately need. The dull gray clouds that overhang your lonely
existence are thereupon dispelled, if only for a few moments.
It's just the way I am; I truly believe even weirdos deserve to be

Be happy, you exceedingly strange person.

Nope, I post directly thru MS's server as do many of the regulars here.

Yes. So were and are many people. We are called non-comformists. We are
the people that are smart enough to understand that those who delude
themselves into thinking there are an authority over us and just full of
sh*t.

Yes. I do provoke people to think. And having to think frightens many, so
they do & say many irrational things, like lie, cheat, threaten & bully.

Bullsh*t. I am well aware that MS monitors these groups, and have been a
victim of that "monitoring" many times.
"Microsoft does not offer formal support for the communities you'll find
here. Instead, our role is to provide a platform for people who want to take
advantage of the global community of Microsoft customers and product
experts." - http://www.microsoft.com/communities/conduct/default.mspx
MS doesn't not offer *FORMAL* support, but may monitor. It's doesn't say
that MS doesn't "*FORMALLY* monitor." And as far as I can tell, from all
the "monitoring" I have personally received here, that "may" should be
changed to "does" as a matter of full disclosure.

I am rather content at the present and you can repeat "you're not" overe

Actually I was molested by a Christian Camp counselor when I was a kid. So?
Doesn't everyone have some emotional scars of some kind from their
childhood? It didn't even factor into my decision to turn away from
organized religion, as what really did it was the morons that when they
couldn't come up with a rational answer to a question, would fall back on,
"you gotta faith," or "because that's what the Bible says," and that finally
pushed me out of organized religion, and this experience only enhanced my
personal feeling of spirituality, not detracted from it.
But this may be the reason I don't put up with the morons here. When back
into a corner and asked to legally prove that MS's One Computer term is
legally enforceable individuals over their rights under Copyright Law, they
never really try to prove with laws & court opinions, but rely on the
argument that "MS's EULA says so."
Just like the MicroShills of SCO, trying extort money out of Linux End
Users, before legally proving that there is actually any illegal UNIX code
in Linux, MS extorts individual users of Windows into buying multiple copies
of it, before legally proving that they have a legal right to do so.

Really? And how would you know? This takes hardly any time and very little
effort on my part. And the people that I agrue with, don't concern me at

This is a constant, it seems; there is a difference between *reading*

I did not say you were hiding something; I said your obsession with
hiking was very *telling*, meaning that, even if you were choosing to

Yup, classic Microsoft thinking. No definition of copyright infringement
in the United States includes the installation of a retail copy of
software on the owner's own computer(s) for personal use, as in fact that
right is *explicitly* reserved to the owner of the copy (which renders the
entire Windows EULA a complete farce, since it purports to give you a
right *you already have*). So Microsoft doesn't label it copyright
infringement; they choose the nebulous term "piracy", which has no legal
definition, so that *they* can decide who is and isn't a "software
pirate", based on *their* say-so and theirs alone.
And they wonder why Linux continues to make inroads, when they institute
policies to treat all consumers as potential "pirates".
Never mind the recent news of Microsoft's fingers being all over an
8-figure transfusion of cash into a certain Utah litigation^W software
company embroiled in FUD-flinging against Linux, which, if not an outright
violation of anti-trust law & its settlement, is at least a slimy,
underhanded, unethical move. Par for the course for this convicted
monopolist.
To kurt: keep up the good fight, though you do seem to be getting a might
wound-up lately. Have a beer :).

Kurt,
Some people who understand German might not find the "Produckt-Aktivierung
macht frei" so appropriate. This is obviously a spin-off of the "Arbeit
macht frei" ( essentially translated to 'Freedom through work' )- the sign
that hung over the entrance gates at many Concentration Camps in Nazi
Germany, Poland and Austria during Hitler's watch. Not cool!
And I am definitely not political correct in most cases!

I find it totally appropriate. MS is locking up everybody's computer in
their PA concentration camp against the will of the consumers that own those
computers, while trying to BS how PA's a good thing for consumers, just like
the lie the Nazis put up on the Gates of Concentration Camps, telling those
entering that their slave labor will free them.
MS is an economic fascist organization that uses it's monopoly power to
bully, coerce, threaten, & lie to others in order to get it's own way. So
if MS doesn't want to be called a bunch of MicroNazis, they will have to
change the way they do business.
I'm not politically correct in any case, as I believe in free speech. I
once joked that Janet Jackson breast ended Western Civilization as we know
it, and now it's not so funny, since the reaction to her breast is main
impetus for the US gov't turning into the morality police for the public
airwaves, on the complaints of a few religious fanatics. How soon will they
get to the web?
The fanatic forces of censorship are already at work in this group. I had a
whole thread of mine pulled this week, for asking all those that believe
MS's EULA terms are inviolable, despite not ever being legally proven to be
so, if they believed that IBM should accept SCO's licensing claims before
they prove it legally. Wait until our religious whackos get a hold of the
net!
Political Correctness is all about conformity, just like PA is about getting
people to conform to the idea that MS has the power to tell you what you can
and can't do with YOUR copy of copyrighted material for your own private
non-commercial use, despite legally sanctioned "fair use."
If you believe in political correctness in some circumstances, then you are
no better than the religious whackos that complain about violence in
mass-media, yet rush out to see a human being get tortured for a couple of
hours in a movie theatre.

There are plenty of threads here that deal all about the problems of Windows
XP, just choose your particular poison. This thread is about the
inter-presonal dynamics of this group, and I am definitely fair game.
If Cary chooses to use "political correctness" as a means to deflect

I now recant my thanks, as I have yet to even receive an automated reply.
Obviously there is no one at MS that has the comman decency to reply. While
not unexpected, I have to admit to a little disapointment. Oh well, at
least I've been proven right yet again.

All that has been proven is that you are unwilling or unable to use
the proper forums as already explained to you.
Or perhaps you prefer here to make your whines more visible?
As you already know, these newsgroups are not officially monitored by
Microsoft.

I just felt the group was entitled to see my complaint too.

"Microsoft may monitor content to ensure the accuracy of the information

IS" with no warranties, and no rights are conferred. You assume all risk for
your use." - http://snipurl.com/5cuq
Whether it is "official" or not, I can testify under oath that "monitoring"
in the form of CENSORSHIP, does go on here all the time.
http://snipurl.com/5cur
The whole thread at the link above was pulled off MS's server. How does
that happen without MS "officially" monitoring this group? Perhaps you
believe that if you ignore the censorship, that it really didn't happen?
