hope this is easy enough. deleting icons on the desktop,
just deletes the icon not the program. to get a program
'shortcut' on your user account desktop. go to start ,then
programs and hover on the program you want.(opens
automatically to the particular program you make shortcut
too.) now right click on the mouse and click on 'send to'
"desktop short cut'.icons on accounts are its own account.
recycle bin is not shared. main program will not dissapear
from programs unless you delete it from there or in the
add/remove programs. easy test is for card game in
start,programs,games,(yours may differ), freecell,right
click, and 'send to' ,desktop(create shortcut). and it will
go to desktop. (shortcut that is). a website for you to try
for searching info is techtv.com/callforhelp. a program on
tech tv 12 o clock pacific 3 o clock eastern. and update
your xp system at windows update in internet
explorer, tools, windows update. unless someone has pre-set
it for you. if not updated ,on dial up it will take about
10 minute per 1 mb of data. on high speed connection it
will take no time at all. then restart after update if it
says so.

>My husband & I are senior citizens and this is our first
computer, so go slow with us. We set ourselves each up as
users (both as admistrative). Now my husband has some
icons on his personalized screen that don't show up when I
go to customize desktop---how do I remove (not delete)
them. If I did delete an icon on his screen, does the
whole program go in the trashcan, or can I still access the
program from my screen? I put some of his icons in the
trashcan and tried to retrieve them on my screen, but they
weren't in my trashcan. I just want to get his icons on my
screen but I can't figure out how to move them from his
screen to mine. I thought maybe the simplest way would be
just to change our user names and "pictures" at the logon
window, but now I can't remember how to get in to set up a
new user. And if I change any of the information on the
user, then what happens?
