XP Home:
1. In windows explorer, how do I deactivate the automatic expanding of all
the sub-folders when I click a main folder in the left pane?
2. When a program crashes, how do I deactivate the automatic - Do you want
to send a report to Microsoft - popup screen?
Thank you,

windows explorer - tools - options - view - display simple folder view in
explorer's folder list

start - run - gpedit - local computer policy - computer configuration -
administrative templates - system - error reporting - report errors -
disable. Or enable, but do not check any check boxes - this will give you
an error message, but not report to MS and all the other things ... read
the explain tab

Thanks for the fast reply. For Q. 1. I do have a check mark on - display
simple folder view in explorer's folder list -. However, it still expands
the folder?
Thoughts?

Also, for Q. 2. When I type gpedit in the run box I get an error saying,
"Windows cannot find 'gpedit'. Make sure.......

Hi,
Gpedit.msc is only available in WinXP Pro.
For #2, go to the Control Panel/system/advanced tab, check the "error =
reporting" button near the bottom and change settings here.
