I've had no problem naming my computer under any of the Win9x OS's. But I can not get XP to retain the name I want to use instead of "My Computer" on the desktop. I can rename it, but when I reboot, it is changed back to "My Computer". Any suggestions?

At the end of this message you'll find the contents of a .reg file.
Copy it into notepad.

Some of the lines will probably wrap into 'paired' lines.
(This and the previous line are 'paired'.)

If you see any paired lines, join them into one long line.
Edit the very last to the name you want.
Save the file with a .reg extension.

Double click on the file.
