Naming your computer

To change the computer name:-
1. Right click My Computer, left click Properties
2. Select the Computer Name tab, click the Change button to
change the name. It will need a reboot once completed.

I don't think that they wanted to actually change the computer name (which is
what it is seen by on the network) - I think that they just wanted to change
the label on the "My Computer" icon.

You used to be able to just select the "My Computer" icon, and press F2 or
right-click_select-rename, then type in a new name. Under WinXP, the name
change does not appear to be permanent through a reboot.
