Number of Rings for Automatic Fax Receiving

What have you found to be a satisfactory number of rings
for the incoming fax signal to kick in? As it stands
now, we're finding that voice calls are being interrupted
by the incoming fax squawking. TIA.

Fax software answers all calls. It cannot distinguish fax from voice.
