download Yahoo

I have been trying do download Yahoo Instant Messanger
after intalling XP. I only get part of the download
before it stalls and crashes. I have tried the automated
installation by Yahoo and the manual installation with the
same results. This happens of a couple other programs
that I'm trying to download but consistantly with
YahooIM. Is something misconfigured, a flaw with XP or
something that I did? What can fix this?
