find and replaces text in multiple files

Hi all,
Sorry for the probably stupid question, but is there an
easy way to find and replace the same text string in
multiple files automatically, either via windows or DOS?

Any suggestions will surely save me hours or repetative
work :-)

Hall-of-Fame shareware product that works great for Text,
HTML, Word, Binary, etc. Offers many features and great
safety options. Extremely good when lots of files are
spread around or even tucked in archives. Has saved me
countless hours revising documents & code.
