View Full Version : Can't delete file in XP Pro

I have a file in XP Pro NTFS partition (not boot) that I cannot delete. The
system will tell me each time that the file is "being used by another person
or program".

Right-clicking to select Properties also takes a long time for the dialog
box to appear. The file is listed as 2,182,358KB in size.

All these despite rebooting the system.

What's the problem?

try safe mode, also try renaming it in safe mode and then deleting it

The problem is simple: you don't know what you are doing. If you email
me or visit our website
www.spinnakercapital.com you will find useful investment information.
We can easily handle more than 2,182,358KB.

Regards,
Andrew.

I also have occasionally had this problem - I find that running a
Command prompt in the directory the file is residing and deleting from
there - usually works - Looks to me as if the file gets locked and
remains that way even after re-booting..
