A Few weeks ago my PC shut down & began to restart whilst
I was on the Net.
This was not a problem as I had finished. I shut the
system down.
Ever since then when I start the PC up, it will get to
the Windows XP loading screen & either freeze or reatart
again. If it restarts it will constantly restart again
once it reaches the XP loading screed. I cannot start the
PC in any safe mode or choose last known good
configuration. I am not that technically minded & this is
extremely frustrating.

Can anyone help ???????

Try booting up with Microsofts BootVis (i believe its no longer supported
but you can find it through google) and see whats taking so long in the boot
process. It should help you pin down the problem.

Whether I power up the machine or restart it, it usually takes xp 2 minutes
from the time the POST screen stops to the time I get the xp title screen.
Once it starts, I don't have any other slow down issues.

not have any antivirus programs running. I've also tried placing the RAM in
different slots, but have had no luck.

Right click the desktop My Computer icon, left click Properties, click the
Advanced tab, under the heading Startup and Recovery click the Settings
button, under the heading System Failure click to REMOVE the checkmark to
the left of: Automatically Restart. Then click the OK button, and then
click the APPLY and OK buttons at the bottom of the remaining System
Properties window. Then reboot your system. At least if it's a software
error, your system won't reboot, and you'll get to see the error message,
which if you can't figure out, you can post here.

I had the problem of my pc rebooting and crashing on it`s own for a while. It was one of three things: ram, dial up modem, ethernet card. I have DSL. I took the dial up modem out of my case and put it up for eternity, then I took out the ethernet card my D
SL provider sent me and used my onboard connection, then I took out one of my memory sticks (down from 512 to 256). Don`t know which item it was, but my pc works like a charm now. This had gone on for months and now it`s great. Hope this helps a little.
