desktop question

I think this should be an easy answer that I have overlooked:
I want to change the color of the type naming each icon on my desktop, such
as My Computer & Recycle Bin.

I have gone into: Right-click Desktop > Properties = Display Properties >
Appearance > Adavnced = Advanced Appearance > Item (dropdown menu), but i
cannot easily find a description that applies to the color of the name of
the icon.

Am I looking in the wrong place ?

XP desktop icon names are black or white, it depends on the base color =
of the desktop to apply either white or black.

I guess I'll eventually look for some utility to download if I want to
change the color.

Why bother? do you have a problem with black or white?
or are you one of those who has to have everything
different..................
