and then do a search for the file and delete all your copies making sure you
know where each is or just rename them mshtml2.dll and then copy your new
..dll from the disk to each location where the originals were. For my XP HE
it's in three locations. then go regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll and hit ok or enter
on your keyboard. This will reregister the new .dll. you have to be sure to
put the spaces in the correct location one before and after /u and the same
for /i . Good luck.

Ok, perhaps it was my fault in not describing the problem correctly.
Thanks for the reply but there is no way our version of XP-Home will allow
the new copy to install itself in the Windows/system32 folder. We do a
right click and a copy here. It will not COPY the DLL to the system32
folder. The OLD version DLL just keeps coming back. We tried deleting the
old version, moving it to the desktop, and renaming it. Nothing worked.
The same old DLL was still there.
We had no problems installing this good DLL from the CD-R onto the other HP
running W98SE. We can't even get the new copy from the CD-R to the system32
folder on this PC. Why doesn't XP allow a DLL to be replaced? Why doesn't
it allow this DLL to be copied from the CD-R to the system32 folder?
And again - all Find all Files finds is ONE copy of the bad DLL and it's in
the system32 folder.
Whewww.... I hope that explains it better. :-)
