Press Control+ALT+DEL at the welcome screen twice.
If you don't get a welcome screen and it just logs you in straight away, go
into Control Panel and create a password for your user account.

Then at the welcome screen you will be prompted for a password ad you can
follow the steps above.

Additionally, for XP Home, you can only logon to the built in Administrator
account in Safe Mode. See Help and Support for more information on booting
the computer in Safe Mode.
