voice recognition software

My son persuaded me to change to Windows XP and I have not regretted it! However, he told me tonight that I have voice recognition software herein so that I could obtain a microphone and then just talk and see text displayed - a wonderful boon to a "tappe
r" like me. Was he correct, folks? I cannot find same. Thanks.
