need to replace missing/corrupt files to install xp upgrade

i have been trying to install an upgrade version of xp. my
installation was aborted by message that i have two either
missing or corrupted files i need to replace.
1.<windows root>\system32\hal.dll
2.mscoree.dll

does anyone know where or how i can get these two files so
i can complete the installation? thanks very much.
