View Full Version : Dial up problem

I have set up the dial up on Windows XP once and only
once, but Outlook and Explorer don't function the same
way. When I try dialing up direct from Outlook the
password saved is much longer than it should be - I don't
know what is there as its all astrixes. Dialing up from
Explorer and the password remembered is correct. I have
tried saving it again but it always reverts to something
unknown. Does anyone know what's hapening here?

Hi Peter
Have you tried dialling from Outlook without changing or re-entering the
password? XP uses a mask on passwords which just means the number of ** does
not necessarily give a true indication of what the password really is.

Lee,
Thanks for replying. I have tried this but it rejects.
It only accepts in if you type the password in over the
top, deleting what it there. Once done it won't save so
you have to do this every time which I don't think is
right.

Peter:
Have you set up your dial up in "Outlook Express" also? In the main menu, go
to Tools then Accounts. Setting up your account in Explorer doesn't set it
up in OE. You have to do both.
