Am running XP HE, with a cable connection. Have an=20
answering mach. Have one phone line with distinctive ring=20
service but a separate fax number. Have an hp psc 2210v=20
all in one. Just recently, fax started not sending or=20
receiving. Also, when the land line telephone rings, the=20
fax has mistakenly =E4nswered"those calls instead of=20
listening for a fax tone or voice tones and acting=20
accordingly as indicated in the hp manual. After calling=20
hp support, I was told xp is not compatible with this=20
older psc 2210v. Can this be true?? My less than two yrs=20
old printer/fax/copier is obsolete with my OS??
Why then, till just recently, was everything working just=20
fine??
Oh yeah, I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling with no=20
success. TIA!!

Windows XP is not capable of distinctive ring.....it the hardware device and
its particular software that does this feature in XP. If your device does
not have drivers that support the feature, it will not work.

See the KB article at
