View Full Version : multi users in 98se what happens in xp upgrade?

Hi, I have two users set up in in 98se, one for me and
one for my wife. What will happen during the upgrade to
WinXP in regards to the separate users and settings?
Is there anything to do before I upgrade in regards to
the different desktops? Will the new install keep the
users setups or will they be combined or lost?
Thanks for any help

Hi,

During the upgrade XP will preserve whatever settings you currently have.
When you created the 2 users did you create a separate location for My
Documents? If the 2 users share the share location (for example c:\my
documents) then it might get moved to the all user's profile upon upgrade
(c:\documents and settings\all users\document). The upgrade should never
delete any of your personal files.

Hope this helps,
