server busy??

[badstyle]

over the past few months i've been getting [upon startup] a "server busy"
alert giving me the options to "switch to" or "retry".

the annoying thing is that often - usually the first time the machine
boots - any options available don't work and i have to perform a cold
re-boot. before windows shut's down it allows an end task on explorer.exe
and ccApp.exe.

then upon re-boot the same initial alert appears however this time the
options function. when i press "switch to" the alert dissappears and the
start menu auto matically pop's up.

does anybody know the reason for these oddities and how to stop it occouring
all the time??
