Hello,
I have been out of work in the IT field since last
September and I have to say I am a bit rusty and need some
refreshing.... I am using XP at home, never in the work
place because when I left the company we were using all OS
except XP...
1. What combination of keys do you press when you have
several windows open and you want to close them all at the
same time instead of one at a time... I think the
combination has shift in it but not sure... ??? I've tried
shift+F5 and it works but not all the time, unless there
is a limit of windows you can shut all at once?
2. I am a big dos user... why is it when I execute the
command.com I can't seem to use half the commands, for
example: I can't access the attrib /?, help /?, chkdsk,
scandisk, clear, ipconfig /all things like that? I know
DOS has hung on and probably on it's way out vif not
already but I see limitations here or perhaps I am doing
something wrong?
3. What combination do you use to print screen a window
into say notepad, word, etc... I'm not talking about using
a printscreen software, I have that but what are the
windows hot keys for print screen like I want...
Well that is it for now... I appreciate any help!!!!

Try CMD.EXE instead of Command.com.
Then type CD\ to be in the Root directory.
Most of the dos commands are still useable there.
Type EXIT to return to windows.

They both need to be changed often,
And for the very same reason.

#3: Print screen:
Prt/Scn captures the desktop.
Alt+Prt/Scn captures the active window.
Image is already in the clipboard at this point.
Open a program that will accept the pasting of images. Examples:
Wordpad, Paint - Yes.
Notepad - No.
Paste the image into a new document window . If using Paint, click Edit>
Paste in the menu bar.
Keyboard shortcut for paste (Ctrl+V) will work in most programs (Paint
still likes to have its little menu clicked for some reason).

Word supports the pasting of an image stored in clipboard. If using
Office XP, it's important to open Word before taking the screen shot. If
you open Word afterwards, the Office clipboard that gets launched with
Word will knock the existing contents out of the Windows clipboard.
Results: You lose the screenshot.

Sure you can. Whatever you've captured with PrintScrn or
Alt-PrintScrn is in the clipboard. You can paste the contents of
the clipboard into any program that supports graphics. Word is
such a program and pasting into Word works fine.
