Does anybody know why the explorer window would launch at
bootup in Windows XP Home? We've cruised through all the
startup menus and through some of the registry, but can't
find what would cause this behavior. Thanks.

Hi Devon,

Start/ru nmsinfo32, expand the software environment, click on the =
startup programs. See if this list tells you what is calling explorer =
and where it is being called from.

You could try the following fix. It creates a separate
process for Explorer and Desktop.

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion
\Explorer
Modify/Create the Value Name according to the Value Data
listed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name:
DesktopProcess
Value Data: [0 = Default / 1 = Separate Process]
Exit Registry and Reboot

Editing the registry is done so at your own risk.....
