Windows xp shuts down

Shorttly after starting Windowsxp message box
pops and reports that there is NT authorized shutdown
and begins to count down the seconds 'til shutdown
something something RCP service ????

I've got the message a number of times. The thing it was bring
a dos message like NT say do you want to go back to a better
configuration?
What is happening?
