View Full Version : Transfer of data between two XP computers

In the past with Win9x, I used to transfer data from one computer to a new
computer using pcAnywhere
(with a parallel cable). I am now considering to try to do the same data
transfer from one XP computer to another new XP computer. It seems that
the latest version of pcAnywhere no longer has a setup for parallel
connection. Could someone advise me how to transfer data between two XP
computers? Satoshi

Burn them on CD? Or use a USB memory stick.

I am talking about 50 or more GB of date. Burning CD or networking (remote
system) would take forever.
Don't you agree. Satoshi

In that case, connect the old drive as secondary drive to your new
computer.

right, this wouln'd take forever, because
50 GB / 10 MBit = ~ 833 min = 13 houres
50 GB / 100 MBit = ~ 83 min
all values are theoretic (!!), depending on harddrive speed, networkspeed,
weather and what ever.
secondary choice is to remove the harddrive and plug it into the other PC
for direct transfer over the same bus system.
