View Full Version : Hardware Conflict?

Here's my problem... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The computer has Windows XP Home edition. Using a D-Link wireless PCI card.
Also have an HP PSC all-in-one printer. Both items work fine. I shutdown
or reboot the computer, both items now do not work. However, if I go into
the device manager, disable lpt1 and then enable lpt1, the printer works. I
can also disable the wireless card and then enable the wireless card, the
wireless card works. Both items will work until I reboot or shutdown the
computer again.

Please help!

Hello Joe,

You can attempt a very quick solution by simply moving the the wireless PCI
card to another PCI slot. I had a situation where a sound card using a
particular PCI slot would either not work or hang the machine because of a
hardware conflict. I moved the card and since then the computer has been
working good.

Please give this a try, provided you have an available slot open, and let me
know if that works for you.

OK so I removed the wireless card. No luck. Still have to disable lpt1 and
then enable lpt1 to make it work. Any suggestions?

Hi Joe,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Go into the device manager and see if there's a conflict. Right click my
computer, select Manage.
When the console comes up, click on Device Manager. Any yellow triangles
with black "!" in them? If so, what are they?

Let me know! Thanks!
