View Full Version : Unwanted notice and messed-up contact list

My OS is Window XP Pro.
There is something wrong with my Windows Messenger (4.7). Whenever I log onto it, a notice pops up, saying "xxx has added you to his/her contact list. Do you want to .... " However, that person's name is already on my list. Besides, my contact list is mess
ed up. Some friends' names are missing while others' may be shown twice, and their online status is wrongly displayed. This problem started a couple of days ago. I don't know how it happened.
Now, I'm using MSN Messenger instead. However, I like Windows Messenger much better and I want it recovered badly.
I'm wondering whether I can use uninstallation-and-reinstallation way to solve the problem.

Greetings Peggy,

I assume then that your contact list appears fine within MSN Messenger?

I have the same problem, and half of my contacts are gone everyday too. This happened to me after i cleared out all the names from my manage list thru user accounts.

Every thing is fine with my MSN Messenger.
The reason I want my Windows Messenger fixed is that it combines with Outlook Express. By opening Outlook Express, I can check not only my email but also my friends' online status; it's quite convenient. Of the two programs (Outlook Express and Windows Mes
senger), no matter which one I open first, the problem is always there.
I need help. Thank you!

I also have this problem. One contact constantly wanted to be re-added. This happens everytime I login. I notice that other users on this board are complaining of the same issue. Was a fix ever suggested for this?
