View Full Version : Closing Programs

Is there an easy way to "close" all programs running when
I need to install a program? In Windows Task Manager, it
shows no applications, but many, many "processes"
running. When I try to "exit" MS Messenger, it tells me
that other programs are running that are using this
feature. Had no trouble "ending task" using Ctrl|Alt|Del
with Windows ME.

Thanks, in advance!

You can use the following articles to limit the amount of non-essential
services and background apps from running in the background:

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP

How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP

Does that help answer you question?

Cheers,
Franksta.

Thanks, Franksta! I will check out these articles.

To Bostaf: I DID close Outlook, yet it still showed two
envelopes in the System Tray and showed MS Messenger
still opened. I just removed MS Messenger from my startup
folder (msconfig), because I rarely use it.

Lose the caps. It's considered yelling, is incredibly rude and makes your
