Not enough Ram
The list goes on, I've had my computer for 22 months and
have noticed No system degrading at all, but then I do
regular maintenance on it.And I DO NOT install Hotfixes
that do not apply!!!! I'm sure that you have Q811493
installed, remove it. A stand alone computer does not
need it.

Try downloading 'Spybot S&D' from the web.
Could solve your problem.
It is free and works well. Found and removed 31 hidden bits of spyware on my system.
